Ohhhh Sugar Pie Honey Bun!!!!

Okay so for my newest most hardest challenge ever..........no sugar for 21 days!!

I work at the Union Square Emporium in downtown Hickory.  We sell fudge, cupcakes, truffles, chocolate dipped oreos, caramel popcorn with dark chocolate drizzle and so much more!  But all of this is so ADDICTING and bad for my waist line.  I have heard that when you crave salty foods it is hereditary, but when you crave sweet things it is from habit.  Well it takes 21 days to break a habit.  So starting Monday June 6th it will be my first day of no sugar!  I will still be eating natural sugars in fruit, honey, etc...  I will keep you posted daily on my level of 0-10 on how badly I am craving sugar.  So good by M&M's and Reese Cups!  It's been fun!

Mamma Patton

Waking up out of bed not ready to go to school, not knowing where my other shoe was, and not having all my homework finished was my typical morning in high school.  While I was rushing around, stressing out about what to wear my mom would quietly be downstairs reading her Bible.  Having two teen girls at the same time could not have been easy.  Mom always made a point to spend time with God no matter how early she had to wake up.  She would always encourage us to do the same and most mornings she would share with us what God had put in her heart that morning.  Sometimes with all the chaos my mom would wake up extra early and spend her quiet time in the bathroom where she knew she probably wouldn't be interrupted.

If I could pick someone to follow in their footsteps as a christian example it would have to be my mom.  Ever since I can remember we have been going to church, reading the Bible, praying together as a family, and inviting people into our home.  With my dad being a football coach he had several players through out the years who would get homesick or even get in trouble.  Mamma Patton or Mamma P as they call her, would always have a meal cooked or an ear for advice, and yes she even showed some of them some very tough love that my sister and I knew all too well.

My mom has always been a working mom, working very long hours and I know sometimes felt very guilty that she wasn't as "present" as other moms.  But I would rather have my mom over anyone else any day.  I am blessed beyond measures to have such a strong christian example in my life and also a close friend.

I am writing this blog because today is her birthday and I would love for some of her friends or anybody that she has touched in this life to share their story.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMMA P!!!

A Year in the Past

Seriously...Seriously can not believe that 2010 is over!  This morning as I was reading other friends blogs on what they are looking forward to in 2011, I went back and read my blogs to see what all I have accomplished in 2010.   I surprisingly enough a lot has happened in this past year.

  1. First my last years resolution was to run a 10k---check!!!
  2. I moved out of my parents house to Hickory, NC
  3. I have become aware of how much money I use to spend---ouch!  And this year I have learned the value of a dollar...seriously a big lesson learned.
  4. I have a new roommate who has become such a good friend.
  5. Two of my best friends had babies!!  Elouise, and Paxton
  6. I am now the proud owner of Thad & Louise Boutique at the Union Square Emporium.
  7. I have humbled myself by working at Starbucks and had to grin-and-bear wearing an apron, visor and tennis shoes everyday to work.
  8. I finally went to my first Mary Kay seminar in Dallas, TX and can't wait to go back this year.
  9. Christy and I have turned the LRU Spirit program around and received first place at camp.
  10. And my little sister, Shelby,  got married!!!!
There are so many more but those were some top 10 memories.  This year my resolution it to work my Mary Kay business a lot more.  It is the one and only way I know I can make more money and have more time for myself.  I want to host 11 parties in January and sell $1100 (which is way low for 11 parties).  And recruit 11 people before March.  Whew!

What were some of your accomplishments?  What are you planning to do for 2011?
Travel with me this year and thanks for taking a walk in my shoes~
