Dance Your Life Dance

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to own a store near the beach.  When I would dream about my life I would vision myself on a store near the beach welcoming the travelers.  I would enjoy learning about their lives and why they were in town visiting the small coast.

Today is one step closer to my dreams becoming a reality.  I have been living very comfortable in a small town free of rent since I moved back in with my parents 2 years ago. I just quit a job at our local YMCA which provided me the safety of salary and benefits.  Yikes!!! My parents were not too happy at first.
I am moving to another town in NC to pursue my dream of opening up my own boutique.  And because God is so good He also opened up a door for me to be able to coach the dance team and cheerleading squad of Lenoir-Rhyne University.
I will now not be living so comfortable financially but I do live comfortable knowing that God is opening doors for me to take risks and follow my dreams.  It is not going to be easy and I'm prepared for the let downs, tears and life lessons I will be learning along the way.
I thank God for giving me such strong support at home.  I have been blessed to have great mentors along the way at The Tapestry Group and the YMCA.
Sometimes you have to forget what the world tells you to do and don't listen to the nay-sayers in life.  You have to dance and follow your dreams.

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

Have you ever been frustrated at where you are in your life? That was a dumb question...I know we've probably all been there. But lately I just feel like I am at a stand still. I'm frustrated that I still live with my parents but so so so grateful that God has blessed me with amazing parents that are easy to live with and some of my best friends. I am frustrated with having four jobs, but I am also thankful that I have a job at all in this tough economy. I have also been getting frustrated that none of my plans for my life are happening the way I planned.

I know that last statement sounded very selfish, but honestly this is how I feel sometimes. I have to remind myself of Jer. 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This verse is very popular and I know a lot of people who say it to themselves daily, but really take time and say it out loud 3 times....no really go ahead and say it 3 times out loud for real. Now don't you feel better?

I may not know why God always puts me in the situations that He does, all I know is I need to please and praise him in everything that I do. It may not be my will but it is His. There is no reason I should ever complain about anything. God has blessed me with so much...but I'm only human right?

I am blogging this to apologize to God for being ungrateful and to share my journey so you can take a "walk in my shoes"

Me O'Clock Time!

After a crazy week at work I have thoroughly enjoyed my Saturday morning to sleep in. Most mornings my body clock wakes me up at the regular 6am and I end up watching Saturday morning infomercials that seriously pull me in. This morning I was so happy to wake up to my clock reading 9:30am.

My healthy lifestyle journey has gotten me in the habit of working out on the elliptical or running on a treadmill everyday. After drinking my cup of green tea I got on the elliptical and busted my butt to get a great workout in today. My dad is away on a coaches clinic in Orlando so I have decided it is the perfect time for a girls weekend!

I have invited 3 girls over to play Cranium, Bananagrams, eat a lot of "healthy" food and start a marathon of GLEE!!!! I know I have written about this before but it is so nice to get away from all the stresses in life and have some "me time".

I am starting this new year off right by eating healthier, working out more, taking more time for myself, spending more time with my Savior Jesus Christ, and not letting the craziness of the world get to me. I encourage you to do the same. Do something for yourself today that will make you relax and smile. It is great medicine for the soul!

Let's Begin 2010!!!

The new year has begun! I gave up making new years resolutions a long time ago...mainly because along with the rest of the world I never kept them. This year I wanted to make a resolution that I knew I could keep.

My sister and I have decided to run a 10k. A 10k in 2010 I like the sound of that. We started training last week and I am already feeling better about reaching my goal. I don't drink coffee or caffeine so green tea has become my new rekindled best friend. Working at the YMCA definitely has its perks. I can train inside since currently it is below freezing in the foothills of the beautiful Carolinas.

To make my resolution a little more fun and to keep myself accountable I have decided to invite some of my closest friends. Hopefully we can start an annual event where we can all get together and run to stay healthy.

Here's to 2010
let it begin!
Ready for the day

Blue Skies, Green Lights, and Jesus Christ

I love waking up in the morning without hitting the snooze button so I can turn on the Today show and lay in bed for 10 more minutes while watching Matt, Meredith, Al and Anne. Tuesday was one of those mornings. As I layed there listening to the news I got out of bed, showered and threw on I new dress that I bought at the beach (new dresses always make my day better). It was a quiet morning...no one in the house, the dog was still asleep and I was enjoying the peacefulness of the new day.

On my way to work the sky was the lightest lightest shade of baby blue with enormous fluffy white clouds. I turned the radio station to 106.9 the Light which is one of the best christian radio shows in our area. As I approached the turn lane coming out of my neighborhood I got so excited that the light was still green! I kept expecting for it to turn yellow since that seems like the normal pattern when I get to that stop, but it didn't. The next light I came to was also green..then the next one and the one after that and so on. Now I know this sounds like a "so what" scenario but sometimes I feel like I get caught by every red light on the street and in life, not this morning. I even managed to catch the green light at the hospital that takes days to change to that lovely shade of bright green. I was in a great mood and I had made it to work early!

When I arrived in the parking lot I took the time to bow my head and thank the Lord for my very relaxing very enjoyable ride to work. Then He reminded me of a saying that my dad always uses at the end of signing birthday cards for people or anniversary cards to my mom. The saying goes "May you always have blue skies, green lights, and Jesus Christ." On this particular Tuesday morning I had it all!!! And now I understand why that saying means so much...because at the end of the day it all comes down the the little things in life that can make someone so happy. Life is too short to worry or stress about anything. I am thankful that God has a plan for me and I do have the love of Jesus Christ in my heart.

So today as you are worrying about the future or stressing over what you have to get done before the weekend I encourage you to take time and thank God for the small blessings He has given you today that might have gone unnoticed.

May you always have blue skies, green lights, and Jesus Christ

Don't Wait to Wear Purple

I have always been the girl who is very laid back. Under stressful situations I always try to look for the light at the end of the tunnel. I love being this way, but I think it sometimes stresses other people out b/c they feel that I don't care enough about situations. If I ever do get worked up it might be for a few minutes in my head before I ask Him for guidance and peace. "If God brings you to it, He'll bring you through it.

I received this exerpt from a book in an email earlier today. I love these little sayings. I feel like they describe perfectly how I feel when I get uptight. Hope you enjoy.

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written."

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."
